Director of Field Turf Operations - Lake County Captains Professional Baseball Club (Eastlake, OH)

The Lake County Captains, proud members of the full-season Midwest League and Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have a tradition of providing a first class experience for every player who is assigned to our organization. Since our first season in 2003, two of our Head Turf Managers have developed their talents in Lake County and gone on to oversee Turf Management at two Major League Baseball facilities. In addition, several seasonal assistants have grown to be involved in operating at major league sports turf operations throughout the country.

The Captains are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to oversee our two-year-old playing surface while exceeding expecations and producing the best results during the 70 home baseball games we play each season and the numerous other events we host at Classic Park.

Position in the corporate structure:  The Director of Field Turf Operations (the “Individual”) will report directly to the VP/GM of the Lake County Captains (the “Company”). 

Primary Duties:

 1)     Oversee the entire field turf maintenance operation, including: maintaining the field of play, setting up the field for all events that take place at Classic Park and ensuring all equipment is in operating condition.

2)     Primary responsibility is to ensure playing surface is maintained to the highest professional standards of Minor League Baseball at ALL times, for ALL events.

3)     Perform the necessary personal oversight and involvement to ensure the playing surface is always presentable and maintained properly.

4)     Oversee the scheduling of field turf staff to ensure that all expectations of providing the best possible playing surface are met while also managing all individuals are allotted enough time off throughout the season and that all events are properly staffed. Director of Field Turf Operations need not be present at all events held at stadium.

5)     Maintain a professional image for the entire turf management staff, including personal attire and conduct.

6)     Regular maintenance of the playing surface to ensure a professional turf is always presentable and to ensure that our playing surface becomes one of the best in the Midwest League.

7)     Oversee a budget for all turf management expenses with the goal of managing all expenses related to this department appropriately. This will involve tracking expenses and regular reports to the VP/GM.

8)     Maintain and monitor all in-stadium and perimeter landscaping in conjunction with the third-party landscaper and City of Eastlake.

9)     Work with the Director of Stadium Operations to maintain the facility throughout the off-season, including routine security checks and routine monitoring of all indoor facilities to ensure proper temperature is set depending on the weather.

10)  Perform all necessary snow shoveling of walkways and high traffic areas of the facility during the winter, including maintaining accessible walkways from the parking lot to the front office as well as a walkway from the office into the seating bowl of the stadium to allow client tours if necessary.

11)  Work with the Director of Stadium Operations during the off-season to checking suites and clubhouses for leaks and reducing overall stadium utility usage.

12)  Work with the Director of Stadium Operations to coordinate the winterization of the stadium following the conclusion of the baseball season.

13)  Work with the Director of Stadium Operations to complete off-season facility projects throughout the Fall and Winter months.

14)  Serve as the Front Desk point of contact in the administrative office during the off-season and assist in all administrative tasks, including processing all donation requests as provided by Director of Finance.

15)  Hire and oversee a staff of part-time, seasonal assistants who will aid in all turf management operations.

16)  Work with the VP/GM & Director of Finance in scheduling all events at Classic Park with the goal of maximizing use while maintaining the field to professional standards.

Ticket Sales and Services: Ticket Sales
Ticket Sales Account Executive - Lake County Captains (Eastlake, OH)

The Lake County Captains, members of the Midwest League and class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, are seeking a passionate individual who is driven to learn, grow and advance in their professional baseball career while exhibiting a strong work ethic as a Ticket Sales Account Executive.

The Captains are based in Eastlake, OH - a Minor League club in a Major League market with infinite opportunities to prospect and drive new sales and revenue - and are entering its 14th season at Classic Park, a 6,500-seat modern facility.

The successful candidate for this opportunity will perform the following duties as a member of our company

1) Be an active member of the Captains sales staff with personal involvement in the sale of all ticket packages and group events.
2) Perform at least 50 cold calls each day with the goal of scheduling in-person meetings with businesses throughout Lake County and surrounding communities to present Captains ticket opportunities.
3) Perform daily updates to Captains sales database to ensure accurate record-keeping and maintain an accurate database of all personal accounts.
4) Active participation in weekly sales meetings, bringing ideas to the table for discussion.
5) Assist the ticket sales department in its in-season and post-season customer service program while presenting new ideas for consideration as the club seeks to expand its offerings to its clients.
6) Oversee and coordinate designated Captains group “projects”, including developing a written plan to coordinate and deliver a successful program that maximizes net revenues.
7) Work to execute all group programs, ensuring a high level attention to detail and follow-through.
8) Work to execute the renewal and new sales process for ticket packages.
9) Understand and properly execute the sales process for booking ticket accounts, including: processing payments, tickets and required documentation.

10) Maintain an extraordinary attention to detail and excellent time management skills, which are an absolute requirement to acceptable job performance.
11) Exhibit a willingness to attend and represent the Captains at appropriate community events, especially events that will improve ticket sales.
12) Along with the ticket sales staff, research ways to improve efficiencies within the ticket sales department.
13) Be a leader in customer service for all office and nightly staff.
14) Perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by the General Manager after proving to be successful in attaining the personal and departmental goals established by the Company.
